Caring for your clothing
Cotton is a natural fiber that requires proper care to maintain its beauty. Follow these guidelines to maximize the longevity and comfort of your garments.
Note: Organic cotton is more prone to shrinking than conventional cotton because it is not treated with chemical stabilizers that prevent contraction. It can shrink by 3–10% in the first wash, especially in high heat. To minimize this, wash in cold water and air dry.
Washing Instructions
Gentle washing helps maintain the fabric's integrity:
- Cool Wash: Wash at a cool temperature, ideally 30°C or a cold wash setting.
- Mild Detergent: Use a mild detergent to preserve the color and texture.
- Avoid Bleach: Never use bleach on organic cotton garments.
Drying & Reshaping
Proper drying prevents distortion and excessive shrinkage:
- Reshape: Reshape your garment while it is still damp.
- Air Dry: Lay the garment flat or hang it up to dry naturally.
- No Tumble Drying: Avoid tumble dryers as the heat stresses the fabric structure.
Ironing Tips
Ironing helps the cotton fibers relax and return to their natural state:
- Settings: Use a low to medium heat setting.
- Benefit: This restores the garment's original structure and removes creases.
Storage
Protect your garments when they aren't being worn:
- Environment: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
- Method: Fold neatly or hang to maintain the garment's shape and avoid permanent creases.
Dealing with Stains
Address spills immediately to prevent permanent damage:
- Pre-Soak: Soak the stained area in cold water promptly before washing.
- Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use aggressive chemicals that can damage natural cotton fibers.
